Peaches vary from firm to very soft. Choose a yielding ripe fruit, or cook a firmer peach until completely tender, then remove the stone and any skin that remains tough.

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Wash and halve the peach; remove the hard stone and peel if the skin is tough.

  2. Cut into broad wedges. If the fruit is firm, steam until each wedge crushes easily with a fork; check tenderness rather than relying on a fixed number of minutes.

  3. Let cooked peach cool, then check for tough skin and serve pieces suited to baby's current self-feeding skills.

Serving by Age

Test a slice between your fingers: it should squash without resistance. Remove the stone and tough skin, offer a soft large wedge for early grasping or smaller manageable pieces as skills develop; avoid firm, slippery chunks.

6 months+

Serve soft peach slices that baby can hold.

9 months+

Cut into smaller pieces.

Allergen Information

Peach is not a commonly listed major allergen, but fruit allergies can occur. Follow your child's individual allergy plan if applicable.

Storage

Refrigerate untouched prepared peach promptly. Cool any steamed peach before storing; discard portions already offered to baby.
