Banana Mash for Babies

A ripe banana turns into a spoonable first-food mash without cooking. Select fruit that yields under gentle pressure; firm green banana can remain lumpy and harder to mash.

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Select a ripe, soft banana and peel it, checking for unexpectedly firm sections.

  2. Mash thoroughly with a clean fork until smooth and creamy; add a little safe water if needed to loosen the texture.

  3. Serve promptly on a spoon at room temperature, or leave a few soft lumps only if your baby manages them well.

Serving by Age

Mash thoroughly for an early eater and adjust the texture with a small amount of water if necessary. As skills develop, leave only very soft lumps; serve on a preloaded spoon under supervision.

6 months+

Mash finely until smooth.

9 months+

Leave soft pieces.

Allergen Information

Banana is not a commonly listed major allergen, though individual allergy is possible.

Storage

Best served immediately after mashing. Discard mash from the baby's feeding bowl; refrigerate any untouched portion promptly.
