Ingredients

  • 40g hake fillet
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 small potato
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Preparation

  1. Peel and dice the potato, then steam or simmer until it crushes easily. Cook peas until tender and mash thoroughly so no whole round peas remain.

  2. Cook hake until the thickest part reaches 63°C (145°F) using a food thermometer. Remove skin and carefully check for bones.

  3. Mash fish, potato and peas together with olive oil and enough safe cooking liquid for a moist soft texture. Cool before offering.

Serving by Age

Inspect every piece of hake for bones and skin. Ensure potato is fully tender and crush each pea. For early eaters, mash or blend into a moist spoonable mixture rather than leaving firm vegetable pieces.
